Thomas Aren is a Los Angeles-based artist at the intersection of folk, alt-country, and indie rock, combining high-level musicianship with proven commercial songwriting instincts. An experienced, in-demand touring player for artists like Geese, Sure Sure, and Sedona, and working songwriter with 10M+ streams on his co-writes, he is now stepping forward with a fully realized solo project that marks a clear next chapter.

His debut LP, Eye Contact With Strangers was written across several years, as Thomas worked multiple jobs while gaining traction as songwriter and musician. The project reflects a life spent in close proximity to both breakthrough success and disillusionment: watching peers rise, stall, or disappear, while developing a distinct artistic voice grounded in honesty, restraint, and subtle humor. The record pairs narrative-driven songwriting with organic production, capturing themes of fear, ambition, love and burnout. It’s melodic and beautiful, but lyrically raw and genre-defying. At its core, it is an indie album, with elements of folk, alt-country, grunge, and alternative.

Recorded on the eastside of Los Angeles, Eye Contact With Strangers features a cast of standout players from the city’s indie scene, including Cairo Marques-Neto (who produced the record with Aren), Drew Tachine (Rostam, Vagabon), Conner “Catfish” Gallaher (Father John Misty, Lana del Rey), Kit Perkins (Junaco, Jonny West), and Eileen Allway, bringing depth and texture to a record that announces Aren as an artist worth paying attention to.

Thomas Aren is currently seeking label, booking, and management partnership.
