Thomas Aren is a singer, songwriter, instrumentalist and producer based in Los Angeles.  When not focusing on his own music, he frequently writes and produces music for other artists.

Thomas’s solo music lives somewhere between vibey electronic music and lyrically rich indie rock, drawing inspiration from artists such as James Blake, Big Thief and Blood Orange. He has released two singles within the past few months and plans to release a pair of EP’s early next year.

Part of what makes Thomas stand out as a writer/producer is his stylistic range: he is as comfortable working on a hip-hop beat as he is penning an introspective folk song or writing a pop hook. He has a real knack for toplining and finding the perfect lyric, and can take a track from start to finish. While keenly aware of genre distinctions, his primary goal is always to serve the song while making the artist feel comfortable and confident, and his diverse and rapidly growing list of collaborators reflect that sensibility.

As both a session and touring musician, Thomas has garnered a reputation as a highly skilled and innovative player. For example, this past March, he was given just 24 hours to learn the discography of the prodigious NYC band Geese before joining them on their headlining North American Tour. He has shared live bills with Lupe Fiasco, Dr. Dog, Shovels and Rope, NEEDTOBREATHE, Michael Franti, and Nappy Roots, to name a few. Without a doubt, his two favorite places to be are on stage and in the studio.
